Wrist & Hand Issues

Wrist & Hand Issues

Are you having trouble with pain, tingling, numbness or weakness in the hands? Do you have a finger or thumb that seems to “lock up” when it’s bent? If so, you may be suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome or trigger finger. These conditions have been successfully addressed using the advanced Class IV laser.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

If you have carpal tunnel, the median nerve in your wrist is under pressure. This nerve goes from your upper arm through the carpal tunnel, which is located in your wrist. The factors that can contribute to you experiencing carpal tunnel syndrome include fluid retention in pregnancy or menopause, diabetes, thyroid dysfunction, high blood pressure, autoimmune disorders and wrist trauma.

Trigger Finger (Stenosing Tenosynovitis)

If a tendon in your finger becomes inflamed, the finger can lock or catch when you bend it. It can also occur in the thumb, which is then called trigger thumb. It’s caused by repetitive movements or the continual grasping of an object or tool for extended periods. You may also overuse the palm, causing inflammation there. Men suffer from this condition more commonly than women. Often, its sufferers have additional health concerns such as gout, carpal tunnel syndrome, diabetes or rheumatoid arthritis.

The Symptoms of Trigger Finger

People who suffer from trigger finger often have different symptoms, such as

  • Finger stiffness, particularly in the morning
  • Finger locking or catching in a bent position, then suddenly popping straight
  • Fingers don’t flex unless manually put into a full extension
  • Pain when attempting to close your hand
  • Tenderness or a bump in the palm at base of your affeceted finger
  • Popping of the finger

How Our Laser Therapy Helps

With our Class IV laser, you can experience a resolution of your carpal tunnel syndrome or trigger finger. It will reduce your pain by cutting down the neuronal impulses and boosting endorphin release. Your inflammation is diminished with the reduction of inflammatory factors and dilating lymphatics, which lessens edema. Your blood flow is increased along with collagen production and fibroblast activity. Cytokines are also released, which combine into enhanced healing.
